Goodbye Seoul, Hello Tbilisi

Updated: Jul 31

First, before I talk about my new home, I want to say farewell to my time in Seoul. Thank you to my friends who became my Seoul family. Thank you for the memories, the celebrations, the endless laughter, and for always being there for me through the good times and the bad. You all are welcome wherever I am in the world, and that is a promise that will never change.

I accepted a new job in April which temporarily took me back to DC, and then allowed me to venture into Eastern Europe. It's my first time in this part of the world, and so far it's been great. Tbilisi is the capital of the country of Georgia. Its cobblestoned old town reflects a long, complicated history, with periods under Persian and Russian rule. Its diverse architecture encompasses Eastern Orthodox churches, ornate art nouveau buildings and Soviet Modernist structures.

My first few weeks have been filled with new memories such as my first Rugby game, America vs. Georgia. I enjoyed a traditional Georgian meal at the Old City Wall restaurant and walked around the many wine, souvenir, and rug shops afterwards. I have seen the Old Clock Tower and some other historic statues and monuments around town. I went on a guided river cruise through Old Town Tbilisi and walked across the Bridge of Peace. It is a pedestrian glass and steel bridge in a bow-shaped design that sits over the Mtkvari (Kura) river.

I'm just starting to explore this new backyard, and I wanted to share a few photos from my first weeks here, and memories of my last few weeks in Seoul and DC I also wanted to give a shoutout to my Seoul goodbye and my Virginia and DC support system. Thank you all for getting me here.
